Antonio Kung, the PARIS project leader, met with Ms. Cavoukian who offered her advice, in particular on the meaning of SALT.
Advisory Board member:

  • Ann Cavoukian, Executive Director of the Privacy and Big Data Institute at Ryerson University, Toronto, Canada

Meeting summary:
The project coordinator met with Ann Cavoukian,  Information Privacy Commissioner of Ontario in Rome. Ann Cavoukian who coined the term privacy-by-design in the early nineties accepted to be part of the PARIS Advisory Board when the proposal was submitted. Because of her influential role, a detailed presentation of the objectives of PARIS was made to her. She suggested to change the SALT acronym (Socio-Anthropological Legal Technological) as she felt that the second initial (A) was associated with a term that was not clear. Consequently it was decided to change to Socio-contextuAl Legal Technological. The change is explained in D2.1.
